PROJECT PROFILE
Belk Residence Hall, UNC-Charlotte
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Challenge
The University of North Carolina-Charlotte has undergone a transformation from a small teacher’s college to a bustling urban research university. And with that growth has come a demand for new student housing.
The university hired Edifice General Contractors., to oversee the construction of Belk Hall, a modern five-story, 178,000 square foot dorm with 426 student beds. Edifice needed a trusted supplier to provide product for more than 1,500 openings in the facility.
Solution
Not only did American Direct procure doors, frames, and hardware for all of the openings in the building, it also installed them and made them compatible with the campus-wide lock system.
American Direct’s project team worked directly with a designated lock shop to ensure that all lock assemblies, both mechanical and electrified, would be compatible with the Medeco3 Logic system used across the campus
