PROJECT PROFILE
Kansas State House
Location: Topeka, KS
General Contractor: J.E. Dunn Construction
Challenge
It took construction crews 37 years to complete the Kansas State Capitol building after ground broke on the project in the 1860s. That glacial pace was due in large part to the detailed finishes that had to be handcrafted by artisans and skilled workers.
So when contractor JE Dunn Construction was tasked with restoring the building more than a century later, the company knew attention to detail would be key. The company needed a partner to supply specialized hardware for the dozens of openings throughout the building that had fallen into disrepair.
Solution
More than 500 doors and thousands of pieces of hardware needed to be replaced or restored throughout the project. American Direct worked closely with skilled craftsmen from Cirecast to replicate the ornate hardware that adorned the openings to the State House chambers and offices, allowing JE Dunn to meet the detailed demands of this one-of-a-kind project.
