Challenge
When the military released its Defense Realignment and Base Closure (BRAC) Commission recommendations in 2005, the Department of Defense sprung into action to consolidate its far-flung media production operations into a single facility.
As a government project, the contractor faced the challenge of keeping this massive 185,870 square foot project on time and under budget with requirements that much of the work had to be conducted through female-owned and minority-owned firms.
Solution
Finding supplies that met the design specs but that were offered through the types of small businesses required under the government contract can be a challenge — especially with the rigid budget constraints.
But through careful planning and consultation prior to groundbreaking, American Direct was able to provide the doors and hardware for the project’s 350 openings while helping it meet its supplier requirements.
