Top-of-the-line acoustics, security add perfect touches to AVIA Hotel at The Woodlands

When you’re serving an exclusive clientele in an upscale enclave in one of the country’s biggest and wealthiest markets, you have to adhere to a different set of standards.

So when LodgeWorks Construction was hired to build the AVIA Hotel (now owned by Hyatt) on Market Street in the heart of The Woodlands — a toney community just 28 miles north of Houston — the pressure was on to create a boutique hotel that provided a distinctly contemporary, elegantly understated environment for guests.

As a building materials supplier for the project, American Direct knew the importance of providing dependable and durable product, but also recognized that the hardware and fixtures needed to be dignified and classy — just like the patrons who would be enjoying their stay at the hotel.

American Direct gave guidance on hollow metal doors, frames, wood doors and pre-hung wood doors that would provide top-of-the-line acoustics and security while staying within the project budget.

“Jerry Pennington [of American Direct] suggested putting in a higher end door and pointed us toward a maple door which dressed it up and got us on the right track,” said LodgeWorks Vice President Mike Frey. “He knows what we like in electronic locks and he was conscious of our price point.”

“The hotel is a gem of The Woodlands. We couldn’t be prouder to have played an active role in its success,” said American Direct President Byron Whetstone. “The finished product met and exceeded expectations.”
